What do you think the crowd’s expectations of Jesus were as he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey colt? What caused the massive swing in the crowd’s opinion in just a few short days – moving from shouting, “King Jesus” to “Crucify him”?
What are your expectations of how Jesus should act and interact with you in the here and now? Is Jesus meeting those expectations? If he is not, how is that impacting your relationship with him? Are your expectations based more on your desires or on the reality of what the Word reveals about Jesus? What do you think of author Anne
Lamott’s statement, “Expectations are resentments under construction”?

I encourage your to spend some time this week reading the passion narratives in the Gospels. Ask Jesus to reveal himself as he really is to you and to help you to find your deepest desires met in who he truly is!
