Sermon Series:

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, what evidence do you see that points to the “crookedness” and moral confusion of our culture? How does this impact you emotionally? What have you done to in response to this reality?

It has been said that Christians are much better at cursing the darkness than shining the light. Do you think this criticism is justified? According to Paul, how do we go about “shining” the light in the midst of darkness? How did Jesus respond to the “crooked” and “confused” in his culture – did he curse them or care for them?

What is the difference between starlight and sunlight? Why do you think that the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to liken believers to stars shining in the universe instead of the sun shining? Is it possible to blind unbelievers by bringing too much light too quickly?

Jesus claimed to be “the Light” (John 14:6). What other sources of illumination are people seeking in our world? How can we communicate to others at work and in our network of relationships that Jesus’ light is more reliable and trustworthy than any other claim to enlightenment?
