Objections to Following the LORD

Scripture: Exodus 3:13-4:17
Sermon Series: Freedom to Worship

If we are honest, we often struggle to do what we know the Lord is calling us to do. What reasons for not doing what God is asking you to do have you used in the past? How do you think God responds when we struggle to follow his way?
What do you think about God’s response to Moses question about who he is (to a Hebrew one’s name refers to the person’s nature too)? What does God’s response tell us about his character and nature? Does his response define him? Does mystery remain? If so, why?
We can fail to follow God because we fear the rejection of other people. How does God reassure Moses? Where do you struggle to obey because you fear the rejection of other people?
We can also fail to follow the Lord because we do not feel we are adequate for the task he is asking of us. Are there any areas where you feel totally ill equipped to handle the job? What does God remind Moses of? Do your limitations limit God?
The Lord had been very patient with Moses’ objections until his last one in v.13. What do you think it was about Moses’ polite statement that angered God?
