Spirit-filled …Craftsmanship?!

Scripture: Exodus 31
Sermon Series: Freedom to Worship

Are some occupations more “spiritual” or valuable than others? Why or why not? What criteria should followers of Jesus use in order to decide what type of job to pursue? Should these criteria differ from the culture at large?
If you are employed, what motivates you to go to work? How would you describe your attitude towards your work? On a scale of 1-10, how well are you doing your work? Are there any ways in which you can pursue becoming more competent in your work?
We often are working for something more than a mere paycheck (e.g. -to construct an identity; to be viewed as significant or valuable; to achieve notoriety or fame). Tim Keller calls this the “work under our work”. What would you say the “work under your work” is? How can we know if our work is becoming an idol in our lives?
Immediately following the description of the laborers gifted to construct the tabernacle, the Holy Spirit details the importance of the Sabbath. What do you think are some of the benefits of a Sabbath day of rest? How is your work/rest balance? Do you tend to err on the side of being apathetic or a workaholic? Ask the Father to help you grow and change if needed.
