Tolerance?

Here’s a suggested order of service that you can use to accompany the message from 2 John and 3 John:

Open with prayer

Scripture Reading:  I Corinthians 15:1-11

Suggestions for Praise:

I Need You More.

Anchor of My Soul.

Take a Moment.

Be Thou My Vision.

Show Us Christ.

Points to ponder:

How does our culture view the concept of tolerance? Why is tolerance important in a multi-ethnic culture where people have very different worldviews? How have you seen our culture’s attitude toward tolerance impact the church?

Jesus, according to John’s Gospel, was full of grace AND truth (John 1:14,17) ~ having the extremely rare ability to stand for the truth while simultaneously being graciously loving toward those with whom he differed. Do you think the modern church is following Jesus’ example?
Why or why not? How are you doing at balancing these twin essentials of being a follower of Jesus Christ?

How do we determine what Christian truths are absolutely essential and should never be compromised and in what areas we should be graciously tolerant of our differences in the church? See I Cor. 15:1-8; II Cor. 11:1-6; Gal. 1:6-8; 2:11-14; Col. 1:15-20; Rom. 14; I Cor. 9:19-23

How can we, as followers of Jesus who are seeking to “walk in the truth” locally, practically encourage and support those in the body who have “gone out for the sake of the name”?
