Sermon Series: Freedom to Worship

If you have placed your trust in Jesus, how does the reality that God desires your life and character to be conformed to the image of Christ in the here and now impact you? Given your current struggles, does that seem like an unattainable dream or have you actually seen yourself grow in Christlikeness? What is our responsibility in the process of being transformed into Jesus image? What are your frustrations with this process?
“We will never fully experience the life of Jesus until we are willing to embrace the lifestyle of Jesus!” What do you think of this quote? As you read the Gospels, what practices/habits/disciplines do you see Jesus regularly engaging in that enabled him to so closely abide in his Father and do his Father’s will? Have you attempted any of these practices in order to draw near to the Father? What was your experience?
G.K. Chesterton quipped, “Christianity has not so much been tried and found wanting, as it has been found difficult and left untried.” Jesus called on would-be followers to count the cost before signing on the bottom line. (Luke 14:25-35). What “costs” are involved in our following Jesus today? How are we to put together Jesus’ statement about his yoke being easy and his burden light (Matt 11:30) and his statements about the costs of being one of his followers? Do you think there are costs of non-discipleship? (Prov 13:15)
