So, Whatcha’ Gonna’ Do?

Scripture: Matthew 7:13-14

In our increasingly complex world, choosing among a myriad of options can be daunting! How comfortable and confident are you in making choices? Why do you think so many in our culture are hesitant to make commitments? Is it easier to be agnostic or committed?
What is it about the “wide/broad/spacious” way that makes it more appealing to the majority of people? What makes the wide way temporarily easier? Why do you think Jesus describes his way as “narrow”? In what sense is Jesus’ way more difficult? How do we reconcile this with Jesus’ statement that his, “yoke is easy and his burden is light”?
Jesus seems to indicate that those who follow his way to life will be in the minority. How should this reality inform how we seek to make a difference in this world? How should it impact our thinking about politics, government, the local church?
How do you think Jesus would respond to Ralph Waldo Emerson’s statement, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey!”? Have you made a choice to follow Jesus’ way to life? If not, what is keeping you from making that decision?
