Scripture: Exodus 16:1-17:7
Sermon Series: Freedom to Worship

Does your view of the Christian life include “desert” times – when life gets difficult and your circumstances cause you to wonder about the reality of God’s love and presence? Does this occur only for those whose faith is weak? Why or why not?
How do you typically respond when God is failing to meet your expectations in some area of life? How does that impact your relationship with him? Is there an appropriate way to “complain” to God?
What are the dangers of evaluating God’s love for us and presence with us based on the circumstances we are currently experiencing in life? What are the benefits of viewing the circumstances of our lives based on the reality of Jesus love for us and his promise to be with us forever?
What have “desert” times taught you about God and his nature? What have you learned about yourself and your faith (or lack thereof) during those times? What does God’s provision of quail, manna, and water in the desert despite the people’s grumbling hearts tell you about his character?
