Sermon Series: Called to Community

In Colossians 1:28&29 and Ephesians 4:11-16, Paul gives his ultimate goal for those in the church – how would you put his goal in your words? How does this compare with your goal(s) for your life and the lives of those you are in community with?
Is it possible to become mature in Christ without having close connections with other believers? Why or why not? What are some of the challenges of finding true community in the church in our culture?
What would you consider to be your spiritual gift(s)? How did you go about discovering them? How would you respond to another believer who commented, “I just don’t think I have any spiritual gifts!” How have other believers’ gifts impacted your spiritual growth?
“The way we use our gift is as important as the gift itself!” Do you agree? How have you seen spiritual gifts being inappropriately used in the church? What has been your experience with the more “supernatural” spiritual gifts (e.g. healing, prophecy, tongues, miracles)? Do you think the Holy Spirit still gifts the church with these gifts? Why or why not?
