When you first trusted Jesus Christ for your salvation, what were your initial expectations of how your Christian life would look – especially regarding the presence or absence of challenges and difficulties? The Israelites moved from a place of joyfully celebrating God’s miraculous salvation in song to doubting his goodness and care in 3 days! What caused this drastic shift? When have you been disappointed by God’s leading in your life? How do you typically respond when life moves you in an unwanted direction?
In the Scriptures the Holy Spirit acts as our comforter, helper, intercessor, and counselor. What do these titles imply about our walk with God? How have these tests impacted your spiritual growth?
After a time of testing, God leads his people to a place of rest and refreshment. How has God refreshed your Spirit in the midst of this very broken and spiritually dry world? Are there any believers you know undergoing a time of testing now? What can you do practically to bring some spiritual refreshment to their souls?
