Sermon Series: The Greatness of the Good News

If you are a believer, how would you rate your current level of peace and contentment? As you look back over your life, what has tended to rob you of peace in your relationship with God and other people?

According to Paul, what is the basis of our peace and reconciliation with God? What can we do to put ourselves in a place where we more deeply experience his peace? See Psalms 34:14; Philippians 4:6-7; I Timothy 2:1-2; Galatians 5:16-26; Hebrews 4:1-11

In Hebrews12 we are told that tough times of discipline in our lives actually produce a harvest of peace. How have the trials and difficulties you have made it through in your life affected your sense of peace?

Paul tells the followers of Christ in Thessalonica to “make it your ambition to lead a quiet life.” (I Thessalonians 4:11) What are we told to be ambitious about by our culture? In your experience, has pursuing those things lead to real peace and contentment? What does your schedule reveal about your ambitions? What steps can you take to be “ambitious” about leading a quiet and peaceful life that is more connected with Jesus? What is the relationship between simplicity and peace?
