What do people in our culture place their hopes in? In what are you placing your hopes for the future? In what sense can Paul say that those who don’t know Jesus have “no hope” when unbelievers often have many sources of hope (see Ephesians 2:12)?
Hope, from a worldly perspective, is always tentative because it looks to an uncertain future. Does biblical hope involve the same ambiguity? How can we as believers get to the point where our hope is firm, secure and anchors our souls in the midst of stormy seas? Hebrews 6:19
