Sermon Series: 4 I's - Seeing Others Through the Eyes of Jesus

If you were asked by a skeptic to explain the message of the Gospel, what would you say? What essentials need to be included in an explanation of the Gospel? Does it include more than just the “plan of salvation” ? How could Jesus and the disciples “preach the gospel” before His death and resurrection? See Luke 9:6; 20:1

What is the difference between “news” and “advice”? How does our response to “news” and “advice” differ? Do you think it is significant that God’s message to us is called “good news” and not “good advice”? What are the implications of this distinction for our relationship with God? Would you classify most religions as “news” or “advice”? Why?

It is clear from the Gospels that one aspect of the Gospel is the kingdom of God ruled by King Jesus the Messiah breaking into history now and culminating in his perfect rule in eternity. What implications does being part of Jesus’ kingdom have for how we live our lives in the present? See II Corinthians 5 How do the values and goals of God’s kingdom differ from the values of earthy kingdoms/governments? See Matthew 5-7
