Scripture: Exodus 20:12-21
Sermon Series: Freedom to Worship

How do you respond when you think about your life and how it compares to the 10 Commandments? Is your response more like “I’ve got these 10 nailed!” or “Man, I’m in deep trouble!” How do the New Testament writers look at these laws? See Rom. 7:7; James 2:10; Galatians 3:24
Which of these commandments do you find yourself struggling most with? Do you think that all of these are applicable to how we as Christians should be living our lives today? Why or why not? How does an understanding of the gospel help us with our ongoing struggles?
Jesus took the external command not to murder and applied it to harboring angry murderous thoughts in our heart (Matt. 5:22). How are you handling your anger? Is there anyone you need to be reconciled with?
What is the difference between coveting (“lusting” in the Greek translation of the OT) and legitimate desire? How can we tell when a desire to enjoy one of the good gifts of God (I Tim 6:17) becomes a covetous desire?
