As you think about the reality that you, as a human being, are more like God than anything else in the entire universe, how does that make you feel? How does understanding this truth make you want to act? What does humanity lose when we fail to embrace this reality?
How would our culture answer the question, “What gives a human being worth and value?” Based on this section of Scripture, what do you think is the basis of human worth? How should an understanding of the image of God change how we think and act toward those who are racially different, elderly, weak or unattractive in the eyes of the world?
According to Scripture, the major purpose of your life is to glorify God (Is 43:7). As you look at your life, are you really living as if this were your goal? Do you think God has designed us to be more joyful and fulfilled the more we accurately reflect his image? Have you experienced that in your own life?
As you ponder the image of God, are there any areas in your life where you would want to be more fully conformed to his image? Spend some time praying and asking God to infuse his likeness in this area of your life.
