What role does singing songs of praise to God play in your spiritual life? Do you think singing is something vital for your spiritual growth and health or is it fairly insignificant to you? – be honest! Why do you think you feel this way?
How do you evaluate whether “worship” in a church is good or bad? Style of music? Emotional impact? Theological content? Instrumental and vocal excellence? Enthusiastic involvement of the congregation? Based on this song, what seems to be important?
This is the first song we find in the Bible and it is also repeated as the last song in the Bible (Revelation 15:3&4). Given this fact, what do you think the Lord may be wanting us to learn from this song about the praise that He values?
There is a mega-church that has divided their congregation on Sunday mornings into various buildings based on styles of worship (e.g. – traditional hymns, modern contemporary, alternative, liturgical, country western, etc). What do you think of this approach to solving our
differences regarding what style of worship we prefer? Is this healthy for the church? Why or why not?
