As you anticipate 2020, what are some of the things that you would love to see happen in your life? Where does the Lord fit into your longings and desires for the new year? Is it possible to see your desires fulfilled yet still feel unfulfilled?
As you read through this poem, how would you describe the Psalmist’s view of God? Would you describe the Lord in similar ways? How does the Psalmist describe himself? How do we get to the place where we can honestly say that our souls “long for the Lord”? Are you there? If not, what do you think is holding you back?
The psalmist gives three conditions that result in “blessing” in our lives (vv. 4,5,12). How do we practically go about “dwelling” in the “house” of God today? What do we need to do to find our strength in the Lord on this pilgrim journey toward our ultimate home with the Lord? How can we increase our trust and dependence on the Lord as we walk through the “Valleys of Baca” in our lives? May the LORD Almighty pour out his richest blessings on you in the coming year!
