We live in a culture with a myriad of options for how we will spend our time. How do you go about deciding what deserves the investment of your time? Are there certain “non-negotiables” in your life for which you always make time? Honestly, how much of a time priority is growing your relationship with the Lord? Is it possible to have a good relationship without a significant investment of time?
How do you know if you are growing in your relationship with Jesus? What role should our feelings play? Is your attempt to live the Christian life feeling burdensome and exhausting? Given the truth of Matt 11:27-28, what changes do you need to make in your thinking or your activities in order to experience “rest for your soul”?
How can a deep understanding of Jesus’ love enable us to “cease striving” and experience the refreshing rest of the Gospel. As you look at your life, what things (other than Jesus) have you yoked yourself to in an attempt to prove you are valuable or worthy of love? Have those things provided what you were looking for?
Challenge 2018: I think understanding how much we are loved is the crucial factor in motivating us to deepen our relationship with God. I want to encourage you to write out Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-19 and post it somewhere that will encourage you to regularly pray this for yourself and those close to you.
