God often fails to lead his people by what they perceive to be the fastest, easiest and most logical way. How do you typically respond when the route God is choosing for you isn’t easy or even easy to comprehend? According to this text, what may be God’s reasons for leading us in a roundabout way?
“Do not fear…stand firm…be still”. Which of these challenges do you most need to focus on in your life today? What practical steps can you take to remember that God is still in control and is working for our salvation even when we don’t understand or like the direction our lives seem to be going?
The salvation of God’s people through the waters of the sea is a foreshadowing of Jesus’ greater salvation through the cross and resurrection. What points of analogy do you see between the two events? How can this ancient story be an encouragement for us to rest in the finished work of Jesus? Have you “seen” the salvation of the Lord? Are you on the east side of the sea?
