Sermon Series: Confident Christianity

How should we respond when we hear from a friend or popular Christian teacher that a new spiritual insight has been revealed to them or they have had an amazing spiritual experience that has really changed their life?

According to this text, how should we evaluate those who claim to have special spiritual insight and wisdom or who claim to have revelations from the Holy Spirit? What role should their popularity or ministry success play in our evaluation? Do signs and wonders validate a person’s spiritual credentials? What ultimately is the final basis for discerning the counterfeit from the genuine? See Deut. 13:1-3; 18:20-22; Mark 13:22; Acts 17:11: 20:28-32; II Cor. 11:3-5,13-15; Gal. 1:6-8; Col. 2:18&19; I Thes 5:21; II Tim 3:12-17; 4:1-4; II Peter 2:1-3

Where do you see false teaching and false prophets deceiving the church today? Is it possible to be overly skeptical and suspicious? Mark 9:38-40
