God’s Gracious Dealings with His Disobedient Deliverer

Given on July 12, 2020 by Brett Helvie
Scripture: Exodus 4:18-31
Sermon Series: Freedom to Worship

After all the debate and dialog at the burning bush, we find a reluctant Moses back in Midian needing to be reminded once again to go to Egypt and that the LORD will protect him. What does God’s response to Moses’ ongoing struggles tell us about the character of our Lord?
Have you ever thought, “if God would only appear to me then I’d do exactly what he asks!” Do you think that is really true? Why do you think God is ready to take Moses out in v.24? How have you seen hypocrisy and disobedience in gifted leaders impact God’s church and how those outside the family of God view Christianity? Are there any areas of your life in which you are ignoring God’s clear instructions? If so, confess your sin and respond to God in obedience…waiting until later to obey is never a good idea.
Have you ever wondered if your failures and sins of the past have caused God to put you on the shelf? What does God’s response to Moses in Exodus 3&4 tell us about how God looks at our insecurities, fears and failures?
