There is hardly anything less “mighty” than a human infant, yet this “child born to us” is called Mighty God by the prophet Isaiah! How does Jesus’ life and death overturn our concepts of how might and power should be demonstrated by God? To what ends are you using your “might”?
Isaiah calls us to ponder another paradox when he tells us that this “child born to us” is also the “Everlasting Father”! What characteristics should an ideal father possess? Which of these characteristics do you especially need to focus on in your relationship with Jesus at this time?
Jesus brought relational peace with God at his first advent (Rom. 5:1) and he will bring world peace at his second advent (Rev. 11:15). If you have trusted Jesus, how has his peace impacted your life? Would others view you as a person of peace?
May you be filled with the love of the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace as you celebrate His advent this Christmas!
