International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

How has your life been impacted by the trials, temptations, difficulties and brokenness of our fallen world? How do you typically respond when your life does not go in an easy and comfortable direction? How do these challenges effect your relationship with Jesus – do they drive you to him or from him?

Though Jesus is in control of all things, “we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.” According to the text, what can we see and what should we focus on even though we don’t yet see the world operating as it should or as it ultimately will?

What do you think the author of Hebrews was attempting to communicate when he says that the sinless Jesus (the founder/pioneer/author of our salvation) was “made perfect” through suffering? In your own life, have you seen suffering mature and change you in any positive ways?

Even though God does not remove suffering from the lives of his children, what hope does this text give us as we walk in a world where we can clearly see that things are not yet right?
