Crank Up the Amps!

Where is this scene taking place – in heaven or on earth? Where is this “Mount Zion”? See Joel 2:29-32; Heb. 12:18-22; Rev 21:1-2 What do our other encounters with the “Lamb” in this book reveal about his character and work? See Rev. 5; 7:9-11; 19:9; 21:9-14; 21:22-27; 22:1-5

Who are these 144,000? What characteristics do they have? Where else have we encountered this number in Revelation? See Rev. 7 Do you think this is the same group? What are the similarities? What are the differences?

After Chapters 12 and 13, why do you think the Lord gives this vision to John and the readers of Revelation? Whether these 144,000 are “tribulation saints” or representative of the church as a whole, how can meditating on this passage provide encouragement to believers living in a hostile political and ideological culture?

Why would being “redeemed from the earth” (v.3) be cause for such loud and joyful singing on the part of the 144,000? Spend some time focusing on your redemption and the joy of one day being free from the brokenness and tears of this present earth. May your ponderings move you to grateful and exuberant songs of praise as well!
