Forgotten by God?

Are you truthful when someone asks you, “How are you doing?” Do you thing the church is a place where honest sharing of what we are really experiencing in life happens? What happens to our relationship with God when we ignore/minimize/repress what is really going on in our heart? Is intimacy possible without honesty?

What does this song teach us about handling our feelings when they don’t line up with what we know to be true from the Scriptures? Do you think God was offended at David’s honest expression of his feelings when he penned these words? Why or why not?

In what areas of your life are you saying, “How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever?” How are you handling circumstances in your life that don’t seem to change regardless of the amount of time you work on them or pray about them?

Despite his feelings, what does David choose to focus on at the end of his lament? How can meditating on God’s unfailing love, his gift of salvation, singing his praises, and remembering his faithfulness in the past help us get through the tough times? Remember, we can’t change our feelings but we can change our focus!
