Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18
Scripture tells us that God’s ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts (Is. 55:8-9). As you think about the reality of God becoming flesh, what aspects of that event are most mysterious to you? How can the Son also be called the Father, the Counselor and Almighty God?
Isaiah tells us that this “child born to us” is also the “Mighty God”. Which part of Jesus’ nature do you tend to dwell most on – his humanity or his deity? What problems can develop if we focus too much on one aspect of his nature without embracing the full mystery of his incarnation?
In what areas of your life do you need counsel? Where are you looking for guidance? What role does Jesus play in your search for direction?
In what areas of your life are you longing for security and protection? What are you doing in an attempt to gain security? What role does Jesus play in your pursuit of security?
In what areas of your life do you long for wholeness or peace? What are you doing in an attempt to find that peace? What role does Jesus play in your quest for peace?
