The Race of Faith
| Sermon Date | : | November 22, 2009 | |
| Speaker | : | Brett Helvie | |
| Scripture | : | Hebrews 12:1-13 |
How would you respond if someone asked you, “What is your main goal in life? What are you really striving for?” Be honest!
In what sense is the Christian life like a race? What type of race would you compare it to…sprint? 1000 meters? marathon? What qualities and disciplines make a good runner? Do any of these qualities apply to our spiritual “race”?
What does the author mean when he says Jesus is both the “author” and “perfecter” of our faith? What is our responsibility? How do we practically go about “fixing our eyes on Jesus”?
According to the author, what is God doing to us when we experience difficulties? What is the Lord’s goal for us in this less than pleasant process? We often feel like God does not love us when we are experiencing pain in our lives. Based on this passage, do those feelings align with reality? Why or why not?
