Anchored or Drifting?

There are all sorts of people who claim “spiritual” revelation was given to them by angel-like beings.  How should we evaluate such messages?  Do you believe these people really experienced what they are claiming to have seen and heard?  Simply having a “spiritual experience” is seen as something very positive by most people in our culture.  How should followers of Christ respond to these “spiritual” experiences?  See I Tim. 4:1; II Thes. 2:1; Gal. 1:6-9

What reasons does the author give in Chapter 1 that point to the superiority of Jesus over angelic beings?  What is he calling us to do in response to this truth?  See 2:1-4

What causes you to “drift” away from Jesus and “neglect” his awesome salvation?  Would you say you are closely anchored to him now or adrift, being blown in whatever direction the winds of our culture or your desires are moving you?

Does staying anchored to Jesus require effort?  How does that reality square with being saved by grace only through our faith in Jesus?  See II Peter 1:5-11; Eph. 2:8-10; Phil. 3:12-14; Titus 2:11-14
