Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18
As you look at the life of Joseph, what unjust suffering did he endure? What was the end result of Joseph’s trials? In what sense is this similar to our Lord’s willingness to endure suffering?
What evidence do you see in Joseph’s life of his great compassion and willingness to be gracious to those who certainly didn’t deserve it? How does this compare to Jesus’ dealings with those who were once his enemies?
Joseph was hated by his brothers, went as a servant to Egypt, was greatly tempted but didn’t succumb, suffered unjustly, was raised up to a position of great honor, took a gentile bride, was the source of bread for the world, and was ultimately revealed and reconciled to his own brothers. How do these events foreshadow Jesus’ life and work? Do you see any other similarities?
What aspect of Joseph’s character or actions impresses you most? How do Joseph’s dealings with his brothers compare to Jesus’ work in our lives?
