Relapse!

Sermon Date : September 14, 2008
Speaker : Brett Helvie
Scripture : Genesis 20

Almost thirty years after his first failure, Abraham once again attempts to pass Sarah off as his sister in order to protect himself. What does this tell us about the fallen nature we all live with? Do we ever come to a point where we have “arrived” in the Christian life? Read and meditate on Romans 7 & 8.

Do you have any areas of your life in which you repeatedly stumble? How do you think the Lord wants you to respond to these areas? Are you willing to seek out the help, prayers and encouragement of another believer? Galatians 6:1-5, James 5:16, Hebrews 3:13, 12:1; II Timothy 2:22

How did God show Himself faithful to Abraham even though Abraham was faithless at this point in time (II Timothy 2:13)? What can we do when we fail to live up to God’s standards among non-believers?

How do you respond to the fact that there are non-believers who are more pleasant, refined, and easier to be around than certain believers you may know? How can even this reality show forth the truth of the Gospel?
